EMMERDALE actress Coral Atkins has actually passed away.

The starlet– who played Ruth Jameson in the ITV soap in 1993– died aged 80 following a fight with cancer.

The starlet was born in London’s Richmond upon Thames before the household relocated to Bucklebury when she was young.

She was evacuated, alongside her sibling, during World War 2.

In 1990 Coral published her memoirs, entitled Seeing Red, which she then adapted into an eight episode radio series for BBC Radio Four.

A years later on in 2000, ITV bought the rights to the book and dramatised it into a show starring Sarah Lancashire as Atkins.
